A word on your level of knowledge and understanding of automotive systems, and my opinion/judgement. (Click for more)

The automotive industry, especially in the shops there is level of knowledge that is expected. When this expectation isn’t met by anyone’s standards, sarcasm and ridicule can happen.

It’s okay not to know something. I guarantee that no one knows everything, and the goal is to learn about things you don’t know about that apply to the work you are doing at this moment.

At the Nevada Smog Technician Academy, we are committed to teaching to help you improve as a technician. It’s not our job to judge you in any way.

All of us have started from a point of no knowledge. I can tell you from my perspective that when I first started as a technician, there was reckless abandon when I first started to repair vehicles. I broke a lot of things, made bad diagnosis, and in general was not very good. I never gave up though. I really enjoyed working on cars. Each day I got a little better. The tough days were the days I learned the most.

Now, armed with this knowledge, I’m hoping to share it with as many people as possible to help them become better. If I can help a technician become better at being a technician, and it makes them more money along with giving a boost in confidence, then I have achieved my goal.

So when you come here, you can ask so called “stupid questions” without judgement, and evaluation tests are used to compliment you on your knowledge level as well as help you to improve those areas that you don’t understand.

There is nothing more satisfying than understanding a problem when working on a vehicle, diagnosing it with accuracy, being correct in your diagnosis, and letting the vehicle go repaired correctly.

My goal is to help you achieve that goal.
